What do I need to get started?

Your modern quilt kit includes all of the essential materials to make your quilt (fabric, batting, and a pattern).

You will also need:

• a sewing machine
• rotary cutter and a cutting mat, or scissors
• a ruler with markings in inches
• thread
• a needle

I'm a complete beginner, is this for me?

If you've never made a quilt before, you're in the right place. Part of the inspiration for these kits was the fact that so many modern quilt patterns leave out essential instructions. They will teach you how to piece a particular quilt top design, but often asssume that you know "how to make a quilt."

We think that with the right project in hand, everyone can succeed at quilting. That's why each Modern Quilt Kit includes a handy dandy Booklet for Beginners. This guide shares all those mysterious missing steps. You know, important stuff like how to cut, piece, quilt, bind, and hang your amazing work of art. Once you've mastered the basics, we think you'll love quilting as much as we do (and we love it a lot)!
